MedVet Foundation

The MedVet Charitable Foundation was formed to address a number of critical needs in the local pet healthcare system. The dollars available for charitable needs are few and far between. Our Foundation was originally named The Good Sam Fund, but additional needs were addressed, which resulted in the change of our name to the MedVet Charitable Foundation. We wanted to include, continuing education using the large patient load that MedVet manages and using the information and statistics generated from the contemporary treatments instituted to disseminate to veterinarians in the management of diseases and injuries, the development of a cancer center utilizing state of the art facilities and modalities of treatment including chemo, and radiation therapies to manage naturally occurring cancer patients, in a facility that would be comparable to human cancer centers. The information gleaned can be useful in human medicine as well as veterinary medicine. We are always in the need of more financial support to assist clients who do not have the means to treat their sick or injured pets, dogs who work for the community saving lives or in community outreach programs that promote knowledge of pet health care. Our Foundation is a 501C3 organization and we will seek funding to encourage efforts to improve the quality of care for patients with diseases and injuries, through research and development retrospectfully through the knowledge cleaned from the patient load we are privileged to treat at our hospital.

The Good Sam Fund, which was started about 5 years ago by MedVet, still exists, as a special needs fund within the foundation.
